 1. What system do you use?
Answer: I
use the system known as Hot Water Extraction or 'steam cleaning'. The
carpet is pre-sprayed with a cleaning solution specially formulated
for fresh water rinsing. This is then agitated into the carpet pile to
allow soiling to be broken up and detached from the fibres. My high
pressure, twin vacuum machine is then used to rinse the carpet
pile with fresh water only. The machine shoots hot water into the
carpet at high pressure. This further breaks and releases any dirt,
bacteria, chemicals and pollens. The machine uses large vacuum volume
to draw the dirt and chemicals out of your carpet.
Any spots or stains still remaining are then treated with appropriate
products, which are also rinsed from the carpet using fresh water. The
same system is used for upholstery except a much smaller tool is used. |

2. What are the benefits of the "Steam"
Cleaning Process?
Answer: There are many. Here I have listed just a few...
- Most thorough cleaning available.
- No harmful chemicals, safe for pets and children
- Prolongs carpet life
- Makes heavily used areas look clean again
- Restores carpet pile
- Repels dirt instead of attracting it
- Extracts allergy causing pollens and spores
- Kills germs and bacteria
- Extracts flea eggs
- Removes dead skin which dust mites live on

 3. How long will it take?
Answer: As a
rough guide a typical lounge carpet would take about 1 to 1 and a
half-hours depending on degree of soiling. A second or third carpet
would take less long because my equipment is already set up. Upholstery
is more time consuming as the fabrics are usually of a more delicate
nature. |
 4. How
long will it take to dry?
Answer: Every
effort
is
made
to keep the drying time to a minimum. 4-6 hours is
a rough guide, and may be reduced. If there is more than one item to
clean I can set up a turbo drier, and some items can be dry before I
leave your premises. This type of equipment is often used in flood
situations.
As a guide to drying times:
Natural fibres take longer to dry than synthetics. They absorb more
moisture.
It is important to keep the room warm and well ventilated to shorten
drying times.
There seems to be little difference in drying times in Winter or Summer
if you have central heating. |
 5. Do
you move the furniture?
Answer:
Ideally all furniture should be moved out of the room to be cleaned
before I arrive. But this is often not possible especially if there is
more than one room to clean. Therefore I usually request that all
smaller items are removed from the carpet. I move larger pieces of
furniture as I progress around the room. These items are replaced and
special foil squares placed underneath where there is a danger of
marking. |
 6. How
much will it cost?
Answer: The
cost depends on a variety of factors including degree of soiling,
travelling time, area of carpet, number of seating units, stain
treatments etc.
I have a minimum charge of £65. The charge reduces with volume of
work pro rata.
For smaller jobs I can usually give a quote over the phone but for
larger jobs I prefer to pay you a prior visit to give a firm quotation.
I am also then able offer comments on the likely results from cleaning. |
 7. How
long have you been doing this type of work?

Answer: Yes,
I am a member of the National Carpet
Cleaners Association and the Woolsafe
organisation.
These bodies ensure that all of their members
are fully insured and trained to the highest standards.
